Recyclerama accepts:

  • Polystyrene (Styrofoam #6): cups, plates, meat trays, egg cartons, coolers, and #6 packaging material.  No packing peanuts or construction related Styrofoam.
  • Eyeglasses
  • Appliances and Steel
  • Electronics: cables, cords, DVD players, monitors, projectors, TVs, VCRs, clocks, fans, heaters, irons, car batteries, radios, cellphones, fax machines, scanners, MP3 players, satellite dishes, typewriters, cameras, curling irons, clippers, holiday lights, small kitchen appliances, computers, printers, ink and toner, copiers, laptops, PDAs, servers, video game consoles, remotes, vacuums, hair dyers, power tools, and massagers.
  • Household Hazardous Waste: paint thinner, oil-based paints, fuels (must be in approved container), solvents, acids, bases, pesticides, herbicides,  household cleaners, metallic mercury, sharps, household batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, smoke detectors, motor oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, transmission fluid, propane cylinders, fire extinguishers, aerosol cans, and PCB-containing lamp ballasts.  Items that will NOT be accepted include: latex paint, school chemicals, construction materials/debris, radioactive materials, ammunitions, weapons, and explosives.
  • Medications: over-the-counter and prescription liquid, pill, and aerosol drugs

Collections events are for Calhoun County residents only.

Participants are limited to 10 passenger tires per event.  Event is limited to household and residential scrap tires only.  No commercial businesses may bring tires to the cleanup event.  Oversized tires such as tractor tires and heavy equipment tires will not be accepted.  Rims must be removed.  Events are funded through the Michigan DEQ Scrap Tire Cleanup Grant.
